The top 30 players on the Korn Ferry Tour’s points list at season’s end will earn PGA TOUR cards for 2024. Straight Down’s newest ambassador, Tim Widing, currently holds that 30th spot. Some would view that position as pressure. Others see it as an opportunity.
At Straight Down, we are excited for the opportunity to follow Tim on his journey. And we know he is, too.
Widing’s quest for a PGA TOUR card continues this week at the Visit Knoxville Open, his 11th start of the Korn Ferry Tour season. He has two top-10s in 2023, an eighth-place finish in Savannah and third-place showing in Chile.
Widing’s game travels. The native of Sweden played college golf at the University of San Francisco before turning professional. One of his favorite quotes is, “Sometimes the easiest path is not the best path.” That is illustrated by his willingness to traverse the globe to continue his golf career.
Widing was an All-American at San Francisco and earned his Korn Ferry Tour card at last winter’s Q-School. He now lives in San Luis Obispo, the home of Straight Down, and plays out of San Luis Obispo Country Club, joining a long list of successful pros like Loren Roberts who have called the Central Coast home.
Widing describes himself as “stubborn, persistent and calm.” Those traits have surely paid off in his professional career and we are excited to help him on his journey to the PGA TOUR.
