For many golfers, the game doesn’t stop when the weather cools. While some are lucky enough to play year-round, others are waiting eagerly for their courses to open back up after months of winter. Whether they’re chasing the sun to warmer destinations or simply biding their time, these golfers have been counting down the days until they can return to the fairways they love.
At Straight Down, we’re fortunate to be based in San Luis Obispo, California, where the mild weather allows us nearly 365 days of golf each year. But we know not everyone has that luxury. For many, the wait for spring to arrive—when their favorite courses open back up—can feel like a lifetime. We relate to that anticipation, as even here in California, there are always a few destination courses we can't wait to play when they reopen each season.
As spring finally arrives, we feel the excitement that comes with the season’s start. The air is different—the scent of fresh-cut grass, the gentle warmth of the sun, and the promise of countless rounds ahead. Whether you've been playing all year or have been waiting for your local course to open, there’s a special thrill that comes with returning to the green after the long offseason.
The chase for perfect conditions is over. The course is open. The season is here. Time to step up to the tee, breathe in that fresh spring air, and enjoy the game we love.
